Hey all! Just a message about art submissions for Wai-con (it's in a couple of months doncha know!)
Methinks it'd be a great way to get some well-deserved attention to your works~
"Hey there~
I'm the graphic designer for Wai-Con this year. You may have heard of it - it's the Perth anime and manga convention

The website is [link] and you can see my name at the bottom linking to my deviantart page (just to prove I am who I claim to be...

D). I was wondering if I could have your help regarding two things:
The first thing is that it'd be great if you could publicise Wai-Con in your community since it's a Perth event - a pretty huge event actually, last year we had over 4000 attendees and we're expecting more this year. The dA crowd and con-going crowd have a pretty huge overlap so I think this would be of interest to a lot of people here.
The other thing is I'm in charge of the program book, which is going to be a full-length magazine this year with a whole lot of new features, one of which is the artist's gallery. And since this is a community for Perth artists...

Basically the artist's gallery is a way for local artists to showcase their work to a large audience for free. To submit to the gallery, your art style needs to have some resemblance to anime/manga (it IS an anime convention

) and there will be a little quality control so I'll get back to artists if they've been accepted. Submissions should be emailed to me at csharpmajor (at) gmail.com. Artwork rules are:
-Artwork MUST be at least 600x600 pixels but that is the bare minimum. You should preferably submit the largest version you have unless it is something ridiculous like 30000x20000
-Artwork MUST be 100% original. Fanart is fine, but no tracing/pasting from other artists' work.
-You can put watermarks on your art but be tasteful about it, i.e. please don't put a giant watermark in the middle of your picture.
-We won't steal your art or use it outside of the program book.
-The preferred file format is a flattened cmyk tif. If you don't know what that is then pngs are fine too. No jpegs. NO JPEGS.
-No jpegs.
-Traders will be given priority over other artists, so if you plan to sell your art at Wai-Con then get your trader forms in quick to get in on the free publicity

(please mention if you're a trader in your email because I don't have access to the records)
-Deadline is 22nd NOVEMBER, 2009. This is somewhat flexible, but don't push it.
I know that's a huge infodump for a single note, but I figured it'd be faster to just give you all the info now. Anyway, if you post this I will totally love you forever

Good luck Perthians~!
Oh, and I thought I'd feature a few perth artists while we've got the opportunity
