Get featured + Devmeet

Tue Jan 5, 2010, 1:43 AM by ~zoeil:iconzoeil:
Two things:

o1. I'm glad to see people have been submitting their work to our features gallery. I'd like to encourage you all to add your work if you haven't already - just please don't go overboard i.e. don't submit your entire gallery. It'd be great to have what you consider to be your best pieces featured, though :)

o2. If anybody's good with organising things, it'd be nice to have somebody in charge of devmeets. So if any of you are interested in that, it'd be great to have a helping hand around the place!

:peace:

You can join now. Seriously, you can.

Go forth, my pretties!

We are officially a Group!

Sat Dec 19, 2009, 7:04 PM by ~zoeil:iconzoeil:
So feel free to join :D
You don't need to write anything in the application form, just send it in to join the group.

So I've sent an application for us to become a group, which should transfer over all of our deviations, journals, favourites, watchers, etc. when our wish is granted. I'm looking forward to this! Admins and whatnot will be sorted out as soon as we get the capability. :XD:

I've been thinking it might be fun to organise a devmeet for late January. We haven't had one since March, so it's really about time! So if you've got any ideas for what we should do, just leave a comment with your thoughts - it'd be very much appreciated. :) (I'm thinking a photoshoot could be cool - the one we had in August 2008 was way fun!)

Also, check this out! [link]
Project Debut is a new local arts project focused on getting Perth's artistic youth exposure and attention for their art. This is a callout for submissions for any kind of art to be published in the Project Debut zine, Untitled(YOUTH). Check out the link for full details - the only restriction is that you have to be between 13 and 25. So start sending things in, everyone!

That's all for now - I'll be doing another "What's On" journal as soon as I finish collating all the events.

Wai-con art submissions!

Journal Entry: Tue Nov 17, 2009, 11:18 PM

Hey all! Just a message about art submissions for Wai-con (it's in a couple of months doncha know!)
Methinks it'd be a great way to get some well-deserved attention to your works~

"Hey there~

I'm the graphic designer for Wai-Con this year. You may have heard of it - it's the Perth anime and manga convention :D The website is [link] and you can see my name at the bottom linking to my deviantart page (just to prove I am who I claim to be... :DD). I was wondering if I could have your help regarding two things:

The first thing is that it'd be great if you could publicise Wai-Con in your community since it's a Perth event - a pretty huge event actually, last year we had over 4000 attendees and we're expecting more this year. The dA crowd and con-going crowd have a pretty huge overlap so I think this would be of interest to a lot of people here.

The other thing is I'm in charge of the program book, which is going to be a full-length magazine this year with a whole lot of new features, one of which is the artist's gallery. And since this is a community for Perth artists... :D

Basically the artist's gallery is a way for local artists to showcase their work to a large audience for free. To submit to the gallery, your art style needs to have some resemblance to anime/manga (it IS an anime convention ;)) and there will be a little quality control so I'll get back to artists if they've been accepted. Submissions should be emailed to me at csharpmajor (at) gmail.com. Artwork rules are:

-Artwork MUST be at least 600x600 pixels but that is the bare minimum. You should preferably submit the largest version you have unless it is something ridiculous like 30000x20000
-Artwork MUST be 100% original. Fanart is fine, but no tracing/pasting from other artists' work.
-You can put watermarks on your art but be tasteful about it, i.e. please don't put a giant watermark in the middle of your picture.
-We won't steal your art or use it outside of the program book.
-The preferred file format is a flattened cmyk tif. If you don't know what that is then pngs are fine too. No jpegs. NO JPEGS.
-No jpegs.
-Traders will be given priority over other artists, so if you plan to sell your art at Wai-Con then get your trader forms in quick to get in on the free publicity ;) (please mention if you're a trader in your email because I don't have access to the records)
-Deadline is 22nd NOVEMBER, 2009. This is somewhat flexible, but don't push it.

I know that's a huge infodump for a single note, but I figured it'd be faster to just give you all the info now. Anyway, if you post this I will totally love you forever :DD

Good luck Perthians~!
Oh, and I thought I'd feature a few perth artists while we've got the opportunity ;)
